ELF Mineral Lipsticks Review

I'm back again with another ELF review as I begin fighting through some recent beauty purchases and getting back to you with my thoughts. Today it just so happens to be the time of the ELF mineral lipsticks. I don't feel I need to bore you with more info about ELF because you will have read it previously over here, so lets just get right into the review:

The ELF Mineral Lipsticks are described as - nourishing blend of exotic oils, natural waxes, vitamins and plant extracts create the perfect moisturising formula. The sleek lipstick has superior colour payoff, glides easily onto lips, and is long wearing. All our mineral makeup is 100% mineral based with no parabens, no preservatives and no chemical dyes. My initial thoughts of the two products that I bought was that they are very reminiscent of the Rimmel Moisture Renew lipsticks in terms of formulation and for some, in shade range. The fact they are all natural with no added preservatives is a major thumbs up for me, however I was expecting some kind of compromise somewhere and I was soon to discover this products minor downfalls. Following a week of religously alternating between the two shades, these were all I wore and have both some very good and slightly disappointing news for you.

Lets begin with the down sides, I love the formula don't get me wrong but these products really fall in terms of pigmentation. In all fairness with the quantity of oils and hydrating waxes, my hopes weren't expecting very vivid colour and this was certainly the case. That said, the issue can easily be solved with a sweep of lipliner to really enhance the colour and brings me on to the next point. With nothing to adhere to, the lipstick did have a field day swimming around my face and moving left, right and centre - which I think we can agree is everything but ideal. Again with a lipliner, this is resolved and are all the negatives that I really have to say about these but in all honesty, thats simply a matter of opinion and how I personally like my lipsticks to be.

Now on for the best bit - the positives, which greatly outweighs the bad. The colours are bea-utiful! They are just stunning *swoons at swatches* the colours I opted for are just heaven and the range can cater to a variety of needs. I definitely, definitely recommend taking a peek as I can honestly forgive the windscreen wiper motion I have to do to really bring out the colour because they are that gorgeous. They deliver in their promises for nourshing, hydration as these made my lips feel incredibly soft and with a slight wash of colour they are ideal for an everyday, 'handbag essential' product. The packaging is lovely, its very sleek and I love the matte finish with simple white lettering that is lightweight, doesn't get dirty easily and just completes the product. As a final note, the price is unbelievable at just £5 for such a great lipstick. You get a wonderful 3.8g of product which is very reasonable in my opinion and for the quality - you get far more than expected considering the price.

Overall, I am very pleased with these purchases and would undoubtedly buy them again. I can easily forgive the very insignificant set backs as they are easily resolved and would encourage any of you lovelies on the hunt for a simple, daily lipstick that is a balm and lippie in one to definitely try this. Have you tried any of the mineral lipsticks? Let me know your thoughts!

The Avocado Eye Cream

Avocado's are so incredible. That may seem like a bold statement but I personally love the taste of them, adore how they boast so many health benefits and are a real beauty saviour. I found myself browsing the shelves of the Kiehls store in Kings Cross Station as I killed time waiting for a train and this proved to be a skincare revelation for me. I am obsessed with skincare and its easily one of my favourite things to read about and discover new products with - not to mention the best accessory for your make-up that you could ever imagine. 'A flawless canvas results in flawless make-up' is the mantra I live by as I can't emphasise the importance of taking care of your skin not just for beauty purposes but long-term benefits.

Prevention being the best cure for any situation is something I definitely channel through my beauty regime and I can definitely admit that I use eye creams and anti-ageing products that will prevent any relevant premature issues. I was instantly drawn to this little pot of heaven simply because it contained Avocado and I love putting the stuff on my face as much as I love to munch on it (face mask tutorial coming soon). I asked one of the shop assistants about the benefits, how to use it etc and this product quickly just had to be in my life. So naturally, I took little convincing to leave the store with a paper bag adorned with the classic Kiehls logo.

So lets get on with why I love this so much and why I encourage you all to pop to your local store and request a sample.

1. The stuff does not move despite being incredibly nourishing - Possibly the oddest of eye cream textures I have ever tried, this little gem starts out by feeling very creamy and thick to the touch but by warming it up with the fingers it turns to a soft 'film' like texture which once you apply to the under eye area, turns almost to a solid and isn't going anywhere for anyone. Perfect for an overnight treatment so you don't spoil your pillows but still have a product that does a phenomenal job.

2. No false promises - This delivers on every account and I can't say a bad thing about it (despite it being in a pot.. I'm a pump kind of gal) but fussiness aside, this truly gives you all you could ever need from an eye cream. There are no aggressive scents to it at all its just very luxurious, nourishing and I really have noticed the difference in my eyes looking far more awake, dark circles being reduced and the skin being extremely supple.

3. Protection as it works - Not only does this work wonders but it also protects skin from the environmental conditions that really give our skin a beating. The eye area is so delicate it's defences aren't as strong as the rest of our face, so it really needs a helping hand when it comes to protecting itself. The formulation allows nourishment and intense moisturising but will also be a tough barrier against any external nasties.

Can you tell I'm in love with this product? If your unsure about it, there are free samples available which will really let you know if this is for you so definitely just ask for one - all the shop assistants I have come across are absolutely lovely! However, for me it looks to be my new favourite and must-have which has taken pride of place on my skincare shelf. Take a peek at it on the site HERE priced at £20 for the small and £33 for the larger version. For my personal blog just click HERE to be redirected there :)

Have you tried this eye cream before? What are your favourites? I'd love to know!

Hey All,

Sorry folks for the few posts I have done. I have been a busy little bee working my socks off to get my final design project of the year finished. I am all done Yayyy! calls for a little dance and a shopping spree if I do say so myself. Through all this stress I have been treating myself to new clothes because that is always the cure for stress and extra motivation ;). I recently picked up this ultra soft and comfy Frog jumper from Masato London check out their site for sure :) it keeps me so warm and toasty in this unpredictable English weather. I love my crew sweats the bigger the better who says plus size cannot rock oversized, its not in my rule book anyway. I was feeling very laid back today but I love this skirt from Asos this split maxi added the extra umph I needed to this outfit. I styled it with my trustee beanie was having one of those hair days.
